What is the best cat food for weight loss?

Monday, November 16th, 2009

My cat is about 15 pounds and he needs to loose weight. I’ve changed his food a couple of times (wellness, friskies, science diet-all dry food) but nothing seems to work. Furthermore, he wakes me up every night at 2am sharp because he is hungry. I made one last food change, which is the science diet canned light food. He loves it, bu he still wakes me up at 2 am. He is also very aggressive with me, and only me. He bites and attacks me if I don’t give him food.

Please help.

Those foods really range in quality. Wellness is an excellent-quality food, while Science Diet and Friskies are very poor quality- those brands contain fillers, plant-based proteins (as opposed to animal-based ones) and meat byproducts. Don’t feed those anymore.

We need more info- is this cat free fed? If so, only feed him on schedule and stick to the feeding guideline on the side of the bag. Feed him for the amount that you *want* him to weigh. Feeding a canned diet may help him lose weight, but again, ditch the Science Diet and stick to better quality food like Wellness, Blue Buffalo, Innova, Natural Balance, etc.

Punish him for biting/scratching- you own the cat, you call the shots. Lock him out of your room at night if you have to. By feeding him when he attacks you, you’re encouraging his crappy behavior. This needs to stop.

How much weight is ok to lose on a raw food diet per week? When should I be concern about the weight loss?

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

I would think about 5 pounds would be great to lose in a week. I know people says it is not good but I think it would be fine if you are not doing it all the time. Only do it for like 2 weeks and don’t do it anymore. Let me know if it works for you if you do it sounds great! Good Luck!

What is a huge weight loss diet, (food, diet pills) etc…?

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

I am looking to find the right diet that actually works. There is so many diet pills out there but what one works?

There’s no easy way out; permanent weight loss must entail a lifestyle change. Diets are for life, not just for a quick fix. Start by drinking a whole lot of water to fill the space that you would normally fill up with food. Add moderate exercise and avoid eating huge meals all in one sitting. Avoid fast food and lower your meat and fat/sugar intake. If you are one who mindlessly drinks sodas at work or school, replace them with water instead. Many people can lose a lot of weight just by cutting out soft drinks–you’d be surprised how many calories those add up to. (I don’t recommend diet sodas or artificial sweeteners; they encourage you to keep up bad habits). Some people start off a diet with a juice fast, but if you are looking to lose a lot of weight, you don’t want to starve yourself–it lowers your metabolism and makes weight loss much harder. Raise your metabolism with activity instead!

Also, I don’t believe in paying for prepared "diet meals." They won’t be around when you’re not on the diet anymore and that in itself encourages one to fall back into bad eating patterns.

What foods should I stock my kitchen with (also, what foods to avoid) to aid in a weight-loss diet?

Friday, September 11th, 2009

I am trying to lose weight, and I need to go grocery shopping. I plan to do some aerobic exercises every day, but I also need to eat the right foods. What should l eat, and what should I avoid?

Should eat: carrots, celery, any type of vegetable basically besides white potatoes. Keep white potatoes in moderation. Fruits, granola, almonds, cashews. Any nuts really. Air popped pop corn with hot sauce and low fat Parmesan cheese. Whole Wheat bread, turkey burgers, yogurt, egg whites, peanut butter, cereal with at least 5 grams of fiber per serving,& skim milk. Tuna, fresh chicken, turkey etc.

Should not eat, but in moderation: Cookies, Jellies, Any fast food, french fries, pies, sugary cereals, whole milk, white bread. Etc.. Really any foods that are high in sugar and carbs are just used for quick energy. Use your calories wisely on high protein and low carb foods. Eat every 2 - 3 hours and make sure you get 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week .

Hope this helped you :)

Need answers about a starvation diet, including time a body can go without food and rate of weight loss,?

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

I don’t have an eating disorder, I’m not overweight, and I dont really care about losing weight really fast. I just am, and have always been very unhappy and hung up with my body. I tried acceptance, but it only goes so far. So I decided I should stop complaining and worrying and just do something about it to make myself happy. I’m planning my diet like this: Eat fruit or a snack before physical activity or when I feel faint, but thats it. Also im going to get some vitamins to take. I didnt eat anything yesterday, and havent eaten yet today but will when I go to my tae-kwon-do class. I just dont want to beat around the bush with this weight loss thing, i wanted a surefire way to lose wieght, and the only way i can stick to a diet is if i believe i will see results. I know a person can live for 2 weeks without food, but how long can they go and still function normally? 2 days? 3? More? Also, anyone know how fast I might lose wieght? Or if in some freak way im going to end up gaining weight? Who knows these days!!!
Also, im not too worried about gaining the weight back. Im not gonna start eating alot right after i get to my desired weight, i think i will handle things well. And i’m looking to lose 10 pound minimum (im really tall so thats not alot).
darnint. I was worried about that whole hibernation/survival mode kicking in thing. It actually happened to one of my friends…… whats the best way to avoid this an still limit my food intake? eating breakfast to kickstart my metabolism each day maybe?
OKAYOKAYOKAY! i dont have an eating disorder, seriously, but yes i do have alot of body image issues….. i have a skewed image of beauty, and to me skinny is beautifull, so i just want to lose some wieght and stop obsessing over my body! I cant take the hate inside myself anymore. i just want to do something about it, and this seems easiest…..

What’s the best way to loose fat?

Put-on muscle.

What are you doing with your starvation diet?
Turning muscle tissue into energy and storing fat.

When you start eating you will put-on all the wieght you lost, PLUS more…up to double, why? Your body has less muscle to burn fat, so the same amount of food means calories being turnd into fat, ’cause they can’t be burnt by the body.

Also, since you’re scavanging muscle (and eventually organs) for the energy, you are also doing damage to all of your body’s systems…and that can be fatal.

If you need to loose weight…have your doctor check to see what your Body Fat Percentage (BF%) is…if you’re an adult woman, you should be about 22% body fat (+/-4%) to be in the "healthy" range. If it turns-out that you have 22% body fat, maybe you just need to put some extra muscle under the skin to give some definition?

As for how long it will take to starve to death - doing next to nothing, well over a month, and the last few weeks will be VERY painful.

You should be consuiming a minimum of about 1200-1500 calories a day, every day…with most of them being from non-fat sources. You also need a certain amount of protein and fat in your dietary intake to keep everything healthy. Talk to your doctor, and if necessary, have him/her make you a referral to a dietician who can help you design something for you.

For actual weight loss, (unless you’re under medical supervison) your target should be about 2-3 pounds a week *maximum*, and remember to keep your self suffciently hydrated. If you’re feeling thirsty, you’ve already waited too long!

Good Luck!
