good weight loss program?

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Im a 17 year old male i am 6′3 and weight 280 lbs i want to lose at least 80 pounds by 12/25/2009 it is now 10/24/2009 do you think i can do it?? and if so do you think you could give me a good diet and exercise plan thank you it would help alot if you could put amount of food and exercies needed thanks in advance =)

by the way i dont have a gym membership or anything like that
so if you could give me excercises that i can do out side a gym it would also help alot. and also have a low budget for food
oh and another thing does how late you go to sleep and how late you wake up affect weight loss at all?

When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don’t eat wheat then you don’t eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don’t eat junk food, and you don’t eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It’s not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym - a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).
The time you go to sleep has no direct impact on your weightloss. But people who stay late tend to eat late, and sleep late, so when they get up, they feel out of sort and tired (sleeping too late makes people tired, new studies show), so they tend to overeat during the day, too.

Help me create a weight loss program…?

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

Heylo there.

So yeeah, I’m looking to lose some weight. I’m not that heavy or anything, just a bit more than I want. But I really know nothing about diets, so I call upon the people of Yahoo Answers!

Here’s the thing though: I’m 14. I’d really prefer not to screw over my developing body, so that means no crazy crash diets or anything, and probably it just helps you to know my age anyways.

So yeah, I don’t see any glaring flaws in my intake. I usually have Post Shredded Wheat for breakfast, no sugar/topping or anything. That’s not even a new thing I put in to lose weight, I just like the taste of it anyway compared to like Trix and whatnot which is kind of disgusting. I think we have 2% fat milk at my house usually… anyway. I only drink water, besides milk for breakfast, which is something relatively new I’ve been doing: past couple of months or so. I used to drink a lot of juice, but I never really liked soda. I was able to give up the juice pretty easily though, so pretty much all I drink is water.

For lunch I typically have a sandwich. Me pops gets pretty nice meat from the deli, so that’s probably not a problem- turkey, pastrami, ham and swiss/provolone, etc. And then I usually have some fruit- some slices of apple, peach, banana, etc. I don’t really have snacks in-between meals, except occasionally a banana or other fruit, so I also doubt that’s a problem. I stopped eating crackers, cookies, that sort of snack thing. I was on Triscuits for a while, which were good, but I haven’t been having as many recently. I dunno if that’s a good or bad thing- I think they’re somewhat healthy, but probably beat out by fruit.

For dinner my mom usually cooks, as she’s a pretty good cook. This varies a lot- chicken, pasta, fish, meat, soup, etc. I can’t really give many specifics, because it is pretty random. Overall nothing that’s incredibly unhealthy though, we have fried stuff once a blue moon, and fast food every few years at most. We typically have fresh bread (IE not package bread, baguettes and whatnot), and cheese on the table as well. (Cheese as in large blocks, not slices). I usually have a slice or two of bread- I cut out on putting butter on it though, just have it plain, so that probably helps a lot. And I usually have a couple slices of cheese. Maybe I should cut down on that.

That usually lasts me until I decide to sleep, except for maybe a banana or something if I’m pretty hungry. Bananas are very convenient.

As something to note, every Friday we order pizza. I imagine this is pretty unhealthy. Not much I can do about this though, except maybe have some fruit beforehand and just have a few less slices. I usually have 4, I could easily cut it down to 3, maybe 2 if I had something beforehand.

As far as exercise goes, I lift weights in our basement every other day. I lift 35 pounds 10 times in 5 positions, so 50.. lifts I guess. I have no idea what the positions are called. But basically, 10 arm curls standing, 10 reverse arm curls (correct term?) standing, 10 lifting it over my head from sitting, 10 lifting it behind my head over my head from sitting, and 10 bench press (right term?). I do it every other day because apparently it’s not good to do it every day. So if you could give me some exercises to do on off days that would help. Maybe leg exercises? Or something. I’d prefer them to be indoor. It’d just make it a lot easier for me, I’d rather not make this into a big thing and get my parents involved. So yeah. I could do crunches or something. I also have a trampoline: maybe I could jump for a good half hour or something every day.

I also go swimming fairly often for a good 45 minutes doing laps. I’d say every other day to every third day I go. (1/2 to 1/3 of the time…days). So that’s good. Maybe I could make it everyday.

I guess that covers it. I do like video games, so I’d imagine the problem is more lack of exercise than dietary stuff. But still, any healthy eating tips ya got are appreciated.

But mainly I’m looking for some good indoor exercise solutions! I much prefer to work hard for half an hour to pacing myself for two hours though, so if you have anything like that, it’d be great. I’m more looking to lose fat than build muscle, but I guess that’s good too… still a second priority though. I can work on a six-pack later, now I just want to lose some weight!

Er… thanks in advance!

P.S. If I get one of those automated things that’s like "TRY FAT-X- I LOST 20 POUNDS IN TWO WEEKS. CLICK MY LINK." that clearly didn’t read my post, I will slap somebody.

I have released over 85 pounds without exercising. I’m not saying it’s not important, what I’m saying is food control is 90% of the losing game.
I weigh and measure each meal so I know exactly what I’m eating and I feel free from all the brain chatter and thinking….I’m just losing

isagenix weight loss program?

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

okay, my dad signed up for the isagenix weight loss program (the 30-day one) and is about to start it soon. I am happy that he is trying to get healthy again, but i’m a firm believer in simply eating good foods and exercising. true, i’m only 16 but still i am very active and i’m trying to get my family to start eating really healthy without starving ourselves.

Has anyone had a negative experience with isagenix? Any bad effects? After the 30 days, do you jsut continue a healthy lifestyle without the shakes and bakes and whatever else there is in the program? Just any comments will do, positive feedback as well.

thanks, jsut looking out for my dad!

Hi
If your dad returns to bad habits after the 30 days, he will likely gain the weight back. Generally, people feel so good after, that they do keep eating healthy.
Some people keep having the shakes for breakfast after a cleanse ( I know I do!)
I hope your dad has your support though, as it is not always easy to be on a cleanse!

Weight loss plateau over only a few weeks?

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

I have been following a weight loss program for 4 weeks. I have been going to the gym 6 days a week. I do at least 30 minutes of cardio on a treadmill or elliptical. 2 of those 6 days I attend a 1 hour long intense dance aerobics class. I do about 30 minutes of strength training. I alternate which body parts I work on by day (i.e. arms and back - M W F and legs and abs T Th S. I have been trying to increase the intensity of my cardio workouts gradually by increasing the distance or incline.

I started a food journal about three weeks ago after I wasn’t please with my results the first week. I count my calories. I eat between 1200-1400 per day. I lost about 7 pounds after I started the food journaling and calorie counting (from 178 to 171.2), but this past week it appears I gained a few pounds at the beginning of the week (I weigh myself every morning) and I am just now .5 pounds away (171.8) from where I was last week. I haven’t changed anything. What could be happening?

Calories last week and this week:
1110 - Monday Sept 7
1100 - Tuesday Sept 8
1204 - Wednesday Sept 9
1490 - Thursday Sept 10
1145 - Friday Sept 11
1600 - Saturday Sept 12
1170 - Sunday Sept 13
1135 - Monday Sept 14
1348 - Tuesday Sept 15
1395 - Wednesday Sept 16

NOTE: I did have a bout of constipation(TMI sorry) this week.

If you want to lose weight some weeks. You can try Lose weight a week plan first!

Day 1:

Eat the soup accompanied with watermelon and melon for your main food all day long. Consume a glass of unsweetened cranberry juice before you go to bed.

Day 2:

Stop eating fruit at all! Consume your soup and you are allowed to eat green salad. Make sure the salad contain no dressings, peas and corns.

For dinner you can consume roasted potato or baked potato with butter (don’t ever think to fry it)

Day 3:

Consume the soup, salad and fruit but no potato today.

Day 4:

Eat the soup accompanied with a glass of skimmed milk. Consume 8 pieces of banana to provide your body enough energy. Your body now need carbohydrate and protein also calcium to lessen body need for sugar.

Day 5

Eat your soup again. Today you should consume salad and salmon fish. Make sure the salmon fish don’t exceed 10 ounces.

Day 6

You should consume maximum 10 ounces of meat along with your soup. You need the protein here.

Last Day

Consume 4 table spoons of rice with vegetables. Drink fresh watermelon or melon juice without sugar and eat your soup also today.

- Healthy life every day!

What does a raw food diet look like?

Monday, September 21st, 2009

I’ve heard of some of the weight-loss programs starting you with 3 days of raw food, obviously no meats. What might this look like? What are good alternative sources of protein that are raw or natural, if any?

your looking at probably just fruits and veggies .

HOw can i LOOSE weight?

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

hi,

I am fifteen, around 5"7 (though i think i may have grown a bit, and weigh in at about 68-69 kgs…but our scales have been broken for about 2 months so i’m not sure how accurate that is:P I probably weigh more, so i really want to loose weight. I want to get to 63kgs, and want to be able to be confident about my body in P.E and when im playing sport. When i look in the mirror i dont think i look that bad but i do need to loose some weight. I want my BMI to be at 21 so i need some help! What can i do to get to my goal weight of 63kgs (loose maybe around 5kgs…or more depending on what my actual weight is)? I don’t have access to a gym or have any money to spend on special weight loss programs or food, so i need help. I am already reasonably active-i walk to school some days(30mins) and home every day without fail(40mins), i am also in the basketball team and we play once a week and train hard on thursday mornings (at 7 in the morning!!!!). But basketball is ending soon and there aren’t really any summer sports i’m interested in. I do eat reasonably healthy as well but i nearly always over eat… Soo, any advise, fitness programs, tips, and boosters would be really great!

thankyou very much:P

p.s i know i am not obese, but would still like to loose some pounds. I do not want to be anorexic so don’t worry:P

Some tips:
Eat protein with every meal!
Eat 5-6 smaller meals everyday instead of 3 meals.
Eat oatmeal sweetened with honey or Stevia for breakfast. Throw in some bananas, blueberries or raisins. Eat a hard-boiled egg white or scrambled eggs (egg-beaters are best) and a piece of wheat toast.
For mid-morning snack, try a fruit smoothie with any kind of fruit, skim milk, flaxseed and protein powder. Mix up in a blender and yum!
For lunch, eat a veggie full salad with spinach, tomato, cucumber, carrot, mushrooms, soy beans and anything else you can throw in it. Instead of using dressing, use a splash of red wine vinegar and drizzle on some extra virgin olive oil. Try putting some turkey or chicken pieces in the salad too.
For afternoon snack, try apple with peanut butter or veggies and hummus.
For dinner, eat brown rice, steamed veggies and baked/grilled or broiled fish or chicken. Eat beans too or instead of the meat.
After dinner snack could be a frozen Edy’s fruit bar or Crystal Light popsicle. Eat plenty of veggies and fruit throughout the day too.
Drink only water! Try some lemon in it too.
Exercise daily (rest once or twice a week starting out) by walking or run/walking sprints for 30 to 60 minutes a day. Try to work the upper body and lower body everyday. Lunges along with push ups are great. Good luck!

What does it cost to order the nutri-system?

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

I was just wondering what the cost is for the weight loss program’s food?

Probably alot more than it costs to make your own healthy choices at the grocery store.

Does this sound like a good idea for weight loss?

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Dr. Steve Brule from Tim And Eric Awesome Show Great Job! talks about a weight loss program called stomach doubling. They push your stomach to the side and put in a plastic pouch that all the bad foods you eat go to, and you dump the food out through a velcro strap on your skin. The video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbA-pUtz2dg

i think i’d rather be overweight than that, lol
