What are some of the benefits of the Weight Watchers Momentum Program aside from losing weight?

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

I'm looking at Weight Watchers, but I'm wondering how eating a balanced diet with these "filling foods" and a multivitamin affects someone, aside from weight loss

What do you eat on the program? What are some examples of what you would eat during a day? Would the program be okay to follow if you aren't trying to lose weight?

I am actually a current weight watchers member and have been loosing weight successfully on the plan for almost 3 months know.

The program is easy to learn and very simple to implement. Weight Watchers members are given a certain amount of points that they are required to eat daily, based on their weight, height, age, gender, and physical activity level. All food and beverage items have a certain points value, based on the amount of calories, fat, and fiber they contain. As members eat through out the day, they calculate the points values for items that they consume in order to reach their daily points target. In addition to their daily points value, members have an added 35 allowance points.

Weight Watchers focuses on developing healthy eating habits as well. This is done not only through the 8 healthy food guidelines given to members, but by also encouraging them to chose "filling foods" whenever possible. Filling foods are simply foods that are able to keep you full longer in order to sustain healthy eating habits. Filling Foods include lean protein, fruit, vegetables, fat-free milk products, and whole grains. By focusing on these types of foods healthy eating habits are developed.

Here are some meal examples:

Breakfast:
-Eggs with oatmeal and a side of fruit
-Cereal with skim/soy/reduced fat milk
-Breakfast fruit smoothies or parfaits

Lunch:
-Lean meats (ham, roast beef) on whole wheat bread
-Salad with light dressing
-Tuna/Chicken Salad

Dinner:
-Whole grain pasta with red source or vegetables
-Fish (such as salmon) on a bed of vegetables
Grilled chicken with various sides

Snacks:
-Meal bars
-100 calorie packs
-Vegetables
-Fruit

There are so many options and possibilities as far as eating options go that it is up to you to experiment and explore different possibilities and combinations. You can eat anything as long as you are following the healthy guidelines and try to chose filling foods as much as possible.

And yes, you can also use the program if you are trying to maintain your weight. Talk to your meeting leader or weight watchers representative for more information on how you should adjust for that use of the program.

Best of luck!

What is a good and simple weight loss program for teens?

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

I am a little taller 5 feet 3 inches and weight roughly 145 pounds. That puts my BMI at about 25. Which is counted as being overweight. I'm not interested in being skinny, just in the healthy weight range.
So I just need a good eating and excise plan that can help me get back into the healthy weight range.
It can't be like weight watchers or anything that requires me to go to meetings or buy food.
Thanks people.
If you have any questions about what I am asking post them and I will reply.
I don't want to take pills for it.. I think that is a waste of time and energy and it does nothing good for your body.

try the lil Jack workout http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKCGe2Ezris
its fun and easy

Please Help!! I need to stick with my weight-loss program for good.?

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

I have been on a weight loss program since September and I have been finding it SO hard to keep myself motivated enough to stick to it. It's not that the program isn't enough food; its just that I constantly find myself in situations that I just let go and overeat in, without really thinking of other possible solutions. Weekends&evenings, friend's houses, my boyfriend, etc. are common situations that I overeat in. I want to FINALLY gain control of my eating habbits because I am gaining more weight than I am losing at this point.
Helpp!!??

set small goals and when you meet the goals you will be motivated
take it step by step ask your boyfriend to help you to and your friends and family im sure they will be glad to help

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

I'm 17, 5' 5", and I weigh 155 lbs. I have recently lost 12 lbs, but now I'm not losing any more! I was eating less and making healthier choices, and I really don't want to do a "food program" weight loss, or work out. Any suggestions?

try to have a strict diet with fiber and grains with natural fruit juices and complex carbohydrates exercise everyday for an hour and maybe try yoga it may make you lose weight and be confident hoped i helped
also eat small portions every other hours to keep you from getting hungry , hungry means more eating and no fats fast food or try less fried foods

Weight loss programs & prepackaged delivered foods?

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Have any of you ever been on them?
I'm looking to do one that doesn't taste too bad and that actually provides results and is not too expensive.
If you've ever been on one like Nutrisystem or Jenny Craig could you tell me about your experience and how much it cost for you?

I would recommend that you create your own diet, for example I drink a slim fast optima along with a banana for breakfast in addition to coffee or tea. For lunch and dinner I have a healthy choice meal, and for snacks I eat fresh fruit.

The key is caloric control so for example if you wanted to weigh 130 pounds then multiple 130 pounds by 10 which equals 1300, this means that you must consume 1300 calories daily to reach a goal of 130 pounds.

I weighed 200 pounds and now weigh 123 pounds and have kept it up by caloric control and mild exercise.

I also indulge my cravings sometimes then I resume my diet the following day. If you would like to contact me for diet support go to forensichypnosis@yahoo.com

Any ideas for weight loss on person who eats too little?

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

I know I have wrecked my metabolism by eating too little for too long. Now my body thinks it's in starvation mode, and says "If you're going to starve me, I'm not going to burn one calorie!" So if I eat more, I just gain weight. I have researched for many years for even one program or expert who could help me lose weight due to this problem. Does anyone know of such a program that helps weight loss due to too little food? (less than 1000 calories a day).
Wow I feel so "stuck"! I was just told that if I exercise more, while not being able to eat much due to a health problem, I could be destroying muscle. I can also only do very limited exercise due to my health, but I am willing to move no matter how little it is, and do it more often. Can't do cardio but I can do the strength band and weights, so I will try that, but wow I feel like this might be hopeless!

Have you tried speeding up your metabolism by eating little meals all day meaning at least 6 meals a day. There is a program called Fat Loss for Idiots that is online. When you view it there, there is also another diet with it that has a food group plan that allows you to eat from certain food groups at certain times throughout the day. It keeps your blood sugar level and forces your metabolism to stay active all day so you burn more calories, resulting in weight loss. It worked for me. When I tried this nothing was working. I was eating very healthy, fruit for breakfast, salads, and lean meat for dinner. I was also doing cardio 45 minutes daily. I was in a rut. Age caught up with me I guess. I had always exercised and ate healthy and all of the sudden I just started to gain weight for no reason. I was like you I guess because if I varied my eating plan for a few days by going out to eat or cooking daily then I gained 3 or so pounds in nothing flat. I tried this diet for 11 days and lost 7 pounds. It really worked and I have only gained 1 pound back. It isn't like Atkins where you shed 20 pounds in a month and go back to eating regularly and gain 15 back. Google it and good luck.

What is the best at home weight loss program?

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

I want the food delivered to my door.
I want it to be reasonably priced.
I want it to be delicious.
I don't want to deal with meetings or talking to people.

I do weight watchers . It's not delivered to your door, but you can buy the boxed meals. I eat a fiber bar for breakfast, then the boxed meals for lunch and dinner. Snacks-I eat ANY of the "100 calorie packet" snacks…they are worth only 1 point. And you can add any salad or green leafy veggie to any meal and they don't cost you any points. I bought the weight watcher book off ebay and it's wonderful. I lost 12 pounds the first month, and was never hungry.
Good luck….oh….and I don't go to any of the meetings.

Has anyone tried the Nutrisyatem weight loss program, I am on it now, and the food is not the greatest?

Friday, January 30th, 2009

The food seems like it's dehydrated, how can anyone eat that stuff. Well, I'm stuck with it till it's gone; I have lost weight but I think I'll do it my way later with real food.

I have a friend who tried it. She frequented the Nutrisystem online message boards. Apparently many people have the same problem and they share a lot of tips for how to make the food taste better. Try checking that out - access comes free with your membership.

which weight loss program is best?

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Jenny Craig or Nutri-System? Or another option that perhaps I don't know about? I am more interested in one that I can do by online counseling and mailed food programs as neither are located in my smallish town.
