Hi, I’m not going on a diet, it doesn’t work for me, but can you tell me the best foods to eat in order to lose weight and keep it off? I over-eat a lot at times and I’m trying to stop this but I don’t know how, I’m 18, 5"7 and about 170 pounds :(… I use to be quite athletic in the first 14 years of my life but now I’m like a couch potato :(… Can you tell me what can I do?
Thanks..

Eating and sleeping actually helps you to lose weight. So…
Do eat breakfast to get fat burning started right away. Fruit or cereal is good. Eat reasonable sized meals every 2 1/2 hours, this keeps your metabolism high.
Do engage in some form of exercise daily. Your body continues to burn fat 4 hours after completing exercise. Take an evening walk after dinner.
Do go to bed early and wake early. If you go to bed on an almost empty stomach, your body will burn fat while you sleep. Don’t eat 3-4 hours before bedtime. If you go to bed having recently eaten the body stores the food as fat.
Do not diet or skip meals you will slow your metabolism and than risk over eating later.
Follow the basic rules above and you can eat anything you like. However you will loose weight faster and be healthier if you eat more vegetable, less red meat and cut out delicacies and sweets.
Hot spicy foods increase fat burning, Oatmeal requires a lot of energy to digest. Complex carbohydrates boost metabolism so eat Milk, and Whole-Grain Cereal.
Chemicals in peppers, Green Tea and Coffee speed up your heart rate. Fish or fish supplements increase leptin which increase your metabolism.
Eat white meats which contain proteins that require more energy to digest.

The pattern for losing those unwanted pounds is easy - eat less and exercise more often - the problems arise when we actually try to put that into practice! There are loads of stumbling blocks out there don’t you think?! The only diet which really worked for me was wu-yi tea, it can be seen in the resource box below, they have a limited number of free trials remaining, it was featured in Reader’s Digest and USA Today. I melted away 20 pounds, it really does work!

If you don’t want to go on a diet, I suggest you follow the Food Guide Pyramid. If you eat according to the Pyramid you will be eating healthy and will lose weight. Exercise will also help you.

Eat plenty of fruits and vegies (obviously), lots of water, lots of fibre which is good for digestion (grains and stuff) and eat lean meat 3-4 times a week. Stay away from processed foods and foods high in saturated fats and stay away from soft drinks and sugary foods
Also get at least 30 mins of exercise a day and gradually increase that over time. Also you can spoil yourself once a week.
Hope that helps!

The most effective way to permanently lose weight is simple. Eat a little less and move a little more. Just avoid fast foods, pizza, burgers e.t.c and eat healthier foods e.g. pasta, salad, chicken e.t.c. Why don’t you try and find an active sport/hobby that happens on a regular basis e.g football club, running e.t.c
Good Luck!

i know you say diets don’t work for you but keep in mind that 80% of your success is due to diet.
you also need cardio.
AND weightlifting.
that is how people successfully lose fat AND keep it off.
as a basic rule of thumb, if its sugary, carb based and tastes great, its not going to help you lose fat.
think HIGH protein (meats) MODERATE fats (good fats) LOW carbs (stick to veggies, fruits, whole grains)

I feel your pain. It’s a battle to lose weight. I believe a vegetarian diet is the best. I don’t currently follow that but when I did, I lost a lot of weight very quickly and my skin looked great. I basically ate a lot of vegetables and fruits. Sometimes I steamed the vegetables or baked them (potatoes, carrots, etc.) Maybe this would work for you too but be sure to take multiple vitamins to ensure that you get all your nutrients.
